May in the northern hemisphere is a month filled with burgeoning creativity and wild blossoms. Though named for the Goddess Maia, this time of year also belonged to Artemis in the ancient Athenian Calendar. The festivals Mounykhia and Artemision were two spring celebrations that honored this ancient Goddess.
Artemis presides over the wilds, the forest, and childbirth. She is the divine huntress. This month, our writing circle will celebrate the myths of Artemis to head for the sacred forest in spring and connect with her symbols of the holy feral.
So dream of our wild with our Word Witch wands (pens and pencils), we will!
Paid subscribers are invited to join me and fellow Word Witches on Thursday, May 22nd, at noon EST for an hour-long writing circle on Zoom. Find our Zoom information below, and the recording will be posted for subscribers only after the gathering. I can’t wait to honor the season together.
